General
Every quote goes through a multi-step verification process before it enters our library.
Attribution check — We research each quote's actual origin: the book, speech, interview, or letter it came from. Many popular quotes are misattributed (the famous "Be the change you wish to see in the world" wasn't actually said by Gandhi, for example), so we cross-reference claims against primary sources. When we discover a misattribution, we correct it — crediting the real author and source.
Original wording check — Quotes that have been widely paraphrased are flagged and compared against the original text. We prefer the author's actual words over internet-telephone versions.
Source documentation — Where possible, each quote is stored with its specific source (book title, chapter, speech, interview, etc.) rather than just an author name.
The result is a curated collection where you can trust that the words actually belong to the person we say said them — and know exactly where they said it.
